Women and youth leaders in Matupi Township charged over demonstration

26 June 2014: Local women reported to the Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO) that women and youth leaders in Matupi Township face charges for demonstrating without permission. The demonstrations they held last week in Matupi and Rezua in protest at sexual violence against ethnic women passed off peacefully.

Fresh armed clash in North East Burma displaced villagers

21 June 2013: Fresh armed offensive by the Burma Army troops on Thursday against ethnic Palaungs has forced more than a hundred villagers in eastern Shan Sate to flee their homes, according to the Palaung Women's Organization.

Chin youths engage Burmese Parliament

Thirty members of Chin Youth Forum (CYF) paid a vsit to Burma's new capital Nay Pyi Taw last week to engage politicians and exchange views with Parliamentarians. For the first time, the youth delegation from CYF met with a group of Union Parliamentarians from Chin State and handed them a policy paper titled "Policy Perspective Proclamation of Chin Youths" on Monday, 15 July 2013.
