26 May 2026 – UFC Flyweight World Champion Joshua Van and renowned Myanmar female singer Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein have arrived in Malaysia as special guests for the 25th anniversary (Silver Jubilee) celebration of the Chin Refugee Committee-Malaysia (CRC-Malaysia).

CRC-Malaysia officials announced that the Silver Jubilee event will take place on Wednesday, 27 May, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at SKJC Chung Kwo Primary School on Jalan Loke Yew in Kuala Lumpur.

Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein arrived in Malaysia on 24 May, while Joshua Van arrived on 25 May. Both were warmly welcomed at the airport by CRC-Malaysia representatives and supporters.

On the evening of 25 May, thousands of Myanmar nationals living in Malaysia gathered at ICC Pudu Hall in Kuala Lumpur to meet the two guests during a concert and public gathering held from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Attendees said the hall was packed with an estimated 1,000 to 2,000 people, with many more remaining outside due to limited space.

Joshua Van spent time greeting fans and supporters, while Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein performed several songs, including “Star,” a song associated with Myanmar’s Spring Revolution. Audience members joined in singing, and some were reportedly moved to tears.

“This song is dedicated to those who lost their lives during the Spring Revolution,” one attendee said. “Even though five years have passed, we still have not forgotten them.”

Following his scheduled programs in Malaysia, Joshua Van is also expected to visit Mizoram State in India around 30 May. – Reporting by Daniel
